ESO has submitted an application to SERWC for separation the grid from the NEK’s assets
The State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (SEWRC) has obtained an application for transformation and assets separation between National Electricity Company (NEK) and Electricity System Operator (ESO). This has been announced by the chairperson of the regulator Ms Anjela Toneva during a hearing in the parliament energy commission. The proposal is the transmission grid to be transferred to the ESO. Thus the company can be licensed as an Independent Transmission Operator, explained Ms Toneva. According to her the unbundling of ESO is possible till the end of the year and the company can obtain a license as an Independent Transmission Operator. The proposal for the unbundling is made both by NEK and ESO and the regulator will begin to become familiar of the official motives. This is the first step for the certification as an Independent Transmission Operator. We are in a delay with this process and it is absolutely necessary to undertake steps in this line. There are addtional steps for the licensing and we shall send notification to the European Commission, but at the end of the year the certification should be completed, explained Ms Toneva.
