Electricity prices and “energy poverty” have recently been top of the news in several European countries where consumers are reported to struggle paying for their energy bills.

Opinions vary substantially as to which solution would be best to tackle this issue. Some stakeholders believe that defining ‘energy poverty’ and remedial measures at EU level is necessary to alleviate the problem. Others stress that Member States should be responsible to define criteria and policies to address “energy poverty”. Yet others argue it makes little sense to define separate “poverty areas” and to consider energy in isolation.

As the Clean Energy Package starts being discussed by the European Parliament and Council, EURELECTRIC is pleased to invite you to debate this major challenge for Europe – and the best way forward – with our high level panellists. Join us for a lively debate!
