Exchange Statistics for April 2016: Higher prices and lower volumes

One trader off the list and two new included

According to the list, published by IBEX, there are 38 registered participants:

– 4 producers – 3 of which part of BEH 

– 2 end consumers

– 32 traders, as during this period one is taken off the list and two new are included

 

The spread between maximum and minimum exchange load continues to shrink

The average volume traded on the exchange is 261 MW – a minor decline of 1.2%, compared to March 2016.

The total load of the system in March is 3 486 MW with a 7% share of the load of the exchange.

The difference between minimum and maximum volumes traded on the exchange continue to converge, as in March the exchange load is fluctuating between 200 MW and 381 MW and in April it is in the range between 175 MW and 313 MW.

The price gap is narrowing

The average price at the exchange in March is 55.7 BGN/MWh – by 9.2% higher than the previous month. It is mainly due to increase in the minimum prices.

The higher daily price in April is 88.12 BGN/MWh or 6% lower than in March. The lowest daily price in the period is registered on 24 April, namely 38.67 BGN/MWh (with 19.97 BGN higher than in March).

There is still great midnight activity

In 19 days of April, in the period 12 – 1 o’clock a.m., deals of over 250 MWh are made. The biggest quantity is sold in this hour on 20 April (Wednesday) – 420 MWh at a price of 69.04 BGN/MWh.

The highest hourly price of 127.15 BGN is reached between 11 o’clock p.m. and 12 o’clock a.m. on 22 April, when 340 MWh are sold. The lowest hourly price of 11.54BGN/MWh is registered between 6 and 7 o’clock a.m. on 24 April, when 55.6 MWh are sold.

The largest hourly quantity sold on the exchange is 410.4 MWh at a price of 68.32 BGN/MWh, in the period 9 – 10 o’clock p.m. on 18 April. The smallest hourly quantity of 54.6 MWh is sold at a price of 18.56 BGN/MWh, between 2 – 3 o’clock a.m. on 24 April.

A look at the neighbouring market of Romania

According to the data provided by both exchanges, IBEX base load price are higher than those on the Romanian market in 11 days. During the other days in the period under review, they are lower or close to those of OPCOM. Romanian day-ahead market is a part of 4MC market coupling, comprising the day-ahead markets of Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
