Poland Contracts 7.58 GW of Capacity in the Latest Supplementary Power Supply Auction

The Polish energy regulator has published the results of the latest supplementary power supplu market auction auction organized by PSE (Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne) for electricity supply. As a result of the auction, a total capacity of 7.58 GW was contracted.
According to the auction rules, power plants emitting more than 550 kg CO₂/MWh are eligible to participate. A total of 58 bids from entities within the Polish power system were successfully awarded. The closing price of the Supplementary Auction was 346.37 PLN/kW/year. (approximately 82 EUR/kW/year).

The organization of supplementary power market supply auctions for the second half of 2025 and for the period up to 2028, open to generators emitting more than 550 kg CO₂/MWh, was made possible following amendments to the Electricity Market Act in Poland (effective from 2025) and the derogation granted by the European Commission.

A supplementary power supply auction is held when the level of generation capacity offered in the main auction and in previous supplementary auctions for a given delivery year is insufficient.
