In the four separate auctions held by Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne, the final prices for each quarter range from PLN 37.24 to PLN 487/kW/year. The auctions were held on 27 March 2025.
A total of 98 bids were successful in the additional tender for energy supply in the first quarter of 2026. The tender ended with a final price of PLN 388.05/kW/year. The total volume of capacity commitments resulting from the contracts concluded for this quarter amounts to 2.02 GW.
In the additional auction for energy supply for the second quarter of 2026, the final price was set at PLN 37.24/kW/year based on 10 winning bids. The agreed volume of capacity commitments for the second quarter is slightly above 0.087 GW.
The final price achieved for the third quarter of 2026 is PLN 37.25/kW/year, and the total volume of capacity commitments is slightly above 0.093 GW.
A significantly higher number of bids (115) were successful in the additional auction for the last quarter of 2026. The final price reached PLN 487/kW/year, and the agreed volume of capacity commitments for 2024 Q4 is close to 2.39 GW.
The differences in prices and volumes of energy purchased for the quarters are due to the level of demand and capacity offered by the auction participants.
The main auction on the capacity market for 2026 took place on 16 December 2021 and ended in the first round with a final price for Polish power generation capacity of PLN 400.39/kW/year. The total volume of capacity commitments in supply contracts for 2026 concluded as a result of the main auction is 7.2 GW.
The costs of the capacity market in Poland are compensated by a fee charged to end users. In 2025, approximately PLN 6.4 billion has been allocated to finance the electricity market, compared to PLN 6.1 billion in 2024 and PLN 5.3 billion in 2023. The price of capacity obligations agreed during the main auction in 2026 is around PLN 2.8 billion.
Between 2021 and 2024, a total of over PLN 22.3 billion will be paid to electricity suppliers under capacity contracts.
