Net power generation in June 2019 was 2795 GWh representing a drop of 15.2% compared to June 2018, as indicated by ENTSOe data.
This drop was attributed to the 614 GWh reduction in power generation from conventional fuels, i.e. nuclear (-12.7%), lignite coal (-36.8%), natural gas (-4.35%) and hard coal (-27.5%).
On the other hand, renewable energy sources were more actively used in this summer month generating 112 GWh more power than in June 2018. Power generated from wind rose by 7%, from sun – by 19.8%, from biomass – by 16.9% and from water – by 16%.

Power import continued to increase reaching 373 GWh, the highest figure since January 2018. The better part of the power imported passed through the Romanian border. For comparison, in June 2018 power import was negligible, only 82 GWh.
Power export was 666 GWh or a 25.6% drop compared to June 2018. The largest amount of 254 GWh was exported to Greece, followed by 217 GWh – to Macedonia, 117 GWh – to Turkey, 69 GWh – to Serbia and 9 GWh – to Romania.
Net power exchange was 293 GWh (export minus import) and was 64% less than in June 2018.

National power consumption was 2483 GWh representing a negligible 0.5% change compared to the figure for June 2018.
